Polycystic Kidney Disease

Numerous kidney cysts develop as a result of Polycystic Kidney Disease, or PKD. There is fluid inside these cysts. The kidneys may suffer harm if there are too many cysts or if they develop too large. Kidney failure can result from PKD cysts that gradually are capable of replacing a large portion of the kidneys.

Most of the time, symptoms only appear once a person ages 30 to 40. In addition to chest pain, about 25% of patients have a heart condition known as a “floppy valve,” which causes the heart to flutter or pound. These symptoms may be the initial indication of PKD, however, they almost usually go away on their own.

The most prevalent PKD symptom is high blood pressure.
